Distinguished Senior Advocates of Nigeria, learned seniors and colleagues, my name is Chinyere Ekene Moneme I am legal practitioner and the Principal Partner of Crystal Legal Services, I am also the Founder and Executive Director of ACE Justice Assist Foundation a non-governmental organization which supports justice administration in Nigeria.
I am currently a member of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) and I currently serve as a Judge at the ICC moot court trial competition 2023. I’m proud to be a member of the Cradle bar and at the branch level, I have been privileged to serve as the Chairman of the Sexual and Gender based Violence (SGBV) committee, Secretary of the Law Week Committee, Secretary of the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, Secretary of the Law Reform Committee, Secretary of the PDSS to mention a few.
I currently serve as company secretary to three (3) financial institutions across the country.
As a result of my service to the bar at all levels and company secretary duties, i am versatile in secretarial duties including but not limited to minute taking, record keeping and administration. Premised on the foregoing, I present myself to serve as the Secretary of our noble and distinguished branch.
If elected for the post of Secretary of the branch, I undertake to focus on two cardinal points to ensure accountability:
AN IMPROVED (I.T) DRIVEN SECRETARIAT
Firstly, I would like to acknowlegde that the post of Secretary of this great branch is not an individualist call but a call to serve in a team and with an understanding that the body grows by what each joint supplies. When I am elected as Secretary, I would in an active capacity provide the necessary support to the Chairman and other members of the Executive Council in carrying out their duties for the overall interest of the branch and the general bar at large. I also intend to create a cohesive, vibrant and IT proficient Secretariat characterized by integrity, fairness, humility, clear and honest communication.
Secondly, I believe that accountability is a great tool for any organization to make sustainable progress hence the need to maintain a reliable and robust branch Secretariat with a dedicated bias for record keeping. When I am elected Secretary, I intend to achieve this by recording and keeping clear minutes of meeting, maintaining and keeping a detailed and wholistic inventory of old and new members of the branch, ensuring an accurate reportage and executive summary of all proceedings and resolutions taken in branch meetings and other meetings of the Association. With these, we would be able to promptly capture and desseminate information to all members of Bwari branch and keep them up to speed with all branch activities.
Thirdly, in as much as we all look forward to a smooth administration, challenges are inevitable. In order to promptly address these challenges, I intend to create online feedback forms to allow for constructive criticisms on the way and manner the Secretariat is being run.
WELFARE AND TRAINING OF MEMBERS
Our distinguished branch is growing and as a result of this growth there is the need to meet the needs of our members in the area of professional development. In order to achieve this, I intend to initiate diverse training and support groups for members of the branch with the collaboration of legal entities both nationally and internationally.
For our young lawyers, I intend to improve their welfare by leveraging on existing relationships to provide continous training and empowerment programs. I also intend to initiate and maintain regular real time support to specific needs of members of the branch.
I intend to engage with Law reporting companies with the view to building an e library housed at the secretariat for our old and young lawyers who may need to research on cases from time to time in order to improve their knowledge and skill base.
